Paul James Calhoun
Nov. 8, 1950-Dec. 16, 2024
Brentwood, California

Paul Calhoun (Pleasanton resident for 29 years) passed away peacefully in Brentwood on December 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was lovingly surrounded by family. Paul is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon, children Paula (Benitez) and Kevin, son-in-law Perry, daughter-in-law Molly (Fourie), and granddaughters Luella, Sophie, and Madeline.

A Bay Area native, Paul grew up in Oakland and attended St. Lawrence O’Toole Elementary School and St. Joseph High School in Mountain View. He also attended UC Berkeley and St. Mary’s College.

Paul met Sharon in their first year of teaching. He was an exceptional educator and coach and highly regarded for his innovative teaching style. Paul later pursued a career in computer science and worked most recently for Integral Corporation as vice president of software engineering. His coworkers described him as a mentor and guiding light who led with patience and empathy.

In all areas of life, Paul always thought big, and his competitive spirit made him a force of nature. No challenge was too large for him to take on. As a husband and father, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to supporting his family, often whipping up a spreadsheet to solve any problem. Paul also coached CYO track for several years and started Pleasanton Heat. His family will miss him for his quirky, made-up jokes.

Paul will be remembered as a gentleman of strong faith, integrity, humility, unique sense of humor, and straightforward demeanor. His favorite hobbies were photography, listening to music at full blast, researching family history, playing with his grandchildren, watching and playing basketball, ballroom dancing, and taking family vacations, especially cruises.
