Sandy Willett, 71, a 35-year resident of Pleasanton, died on Dec. 21, 2023 after a short uphill battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She is survived by her sister Sue Poliakevich, her husband, Bob, of 50 years, and her two adult children, son, Eric Willett, and daughter, Sarah Horgan, daughter in law Anna Breckenridge, son-in-law Michael Horgan and two grandchildren Lacey and Keegan Horgan.
Sandy grew up in Daly City, CA and first met her husband to be, Bob, while the two worked at Candlestick Park. They married in 1973 and moved to Arcata, CA where Bob attended Humboldt State University, and Sandy started working at Humboldt State University. After Bob graduated they moved back to the Bay Area to Fremont for Bob's employment at the Fremont Police Dept and Sandy began a career in the Student Loan Accounting office at Cal State Hayward. Sandy and Bob moved to Pleasanton in 1988 after Eric and Sarah were born. Sandy retired from Cal State Hayward in 2005 and continued living in Pleasanton until her sudden passing.
Sandy was a very loving person. Everyone else came first before herself. She didn't like the limelight upon herself. She enjoyed doing things "behind the scenes". Her passion was to always be there for her family when needed or even when not needed. You knew she always had your back. She learned quickly how to become a wife of a police officer and she did it well. She especially liked being a grandmother to her two grandkids Lacey and Keegan. She never got enough of them. She was a great planner and organizer. Another passion for her was cooking and she loved making the best dishes for any occasion and for anyone. Sandy enjoyed RV camping and enjoyed going on cruises and making cross-country road trips across the US to visit Sarah and her grandkids in GA and visiting friends and other relatives along the way. She volunteered her time when she could. She loved animals and especially loved her dogs. She was a big Warriors fan, Giants fan and 49ers fan. She leaves a huge void in her family and will be missed but not forgotten by all whose lives she had touched, helped and loved in her lifetime.
