Lasting Memories

Marjory Florence (Methvin) Tilley
Nov. 30, 1953-April 1, 2025
Pleasanton, California

Marjory Tilley, a woman of strong faith who was passionate about serving others, died at the age of 71.

She was a long-time employee and passionate supporter of the Senior Support Program and CityServe (Senior Support merged into CityServe).

Marjory also was a long-time active member of GraceWay Church.

Her good friend of nearly 40 years, Liz Wright, described her as a planner who was a fine cook and loved to entertain people for what amounted to four-star dinners.

Liz also cited Marjory’s frugality, noting she took a solo trip to Tokyo to pick out Mikimoto pearls one-by-one and purchase them duty free.

“That was Marjory — practical, savvy and completely fearless when it came to doing things her own way,” Wright wrote.

She was born and grew up in Newport, RI. Marjory graduated from University of Rhode Island with a degree in physical education. She worked in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster and went on to supervise the human resources department for a software company.

She is survived by her brother John Methvin (Susanne) of Moraga, sister Barbara Garfield of Fairfax, and nieces and nephews, Hans Guy, Ella Garfield, Julian Garfield, and David Luther, and her son Malcolm. Her husband, Merten Tilley, predeceased her.
