It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow that we confirm that our beloved mother, Maria Alice Brandao, passed away on May 22nd , 2024, in her home surrounded by her family.
She died peacefully at 88 years of age. Maria was born and raised in Costello Branco on the Island of Faial, Azores Islands, Portugal until she and her husband, Jose Duarte Brandao, married in 1953 and then immigrated to America in 1960 with their two young daughters Maria and Mary. They went on to have two more daughters and a son, Olympia, Kathleen, and Carlos. In 1971, at the age of 36, Maria’s husband Jose passed away at the young age of 39 leaving her with 5 children between the ages of 6 and 16. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when her family needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, strength, and love in abundance. As a grandmother and Great Grandmother, she was very caring and supportive and attended all the important events when able. We’ll all miss her terribly.

I have known this women my whole life. She was a fine person who raised 5 children as a young widow. My parents often spoke highly of this classy women. I know she was like a mother to a cousin of mine whom married one of her daughters. She will be very missed. God bless Mrs. Brandao.
