Carol Lynne Simas, aged 87, passed away peacefully with family and loved ones on September 29, 2024, in Castro Valley, California. Carol was born on February 11, 1937, in Alameda County, California. She was a beloved figure in her community and a successful self-employed businesswoman.
Carol attended Cal Berkeley and soon became a pioneering entrepreneur, running a retail gas station business since 1970 alongside her husband Ted, with remarkable success. Beyond her business acumen, Carol was known for her kindness, sincerity, and generosity. Her sense of humor and love for life made her a joy to be around. She was artistic, often found reading mystery novels, or cooking lavish feasts for her family. Carol cherished her many pets, especially her favorite dog, Jasper, and loved playing cards and games.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Simas, Kevin Simas, Kristen Whitehead (married to Craig Bednorski), and Keith Simas (married to Amy). Her grandchildren, Lindsay Whitehead, Travis Whitehead (married to Brooke), Abigail Simas, and Joshua Simas. Her family will hold her memory dear. Carol was preceded in death by her Husband Edward Simas, Mother Dorothy Courreges, Father George Courreges, and Brother George Courreges.
A visitation will be held on October 18, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm in the Tower Chapel at Piedmont Funeral Services & Mountain View Cemetery, located at 5000 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA. The funeral service will follow on October 19, 2024, at 10 am at the same location. After the service, there will be an interment at Chapel of the Chimes 4499 Piedmont Ave. Oakland CA. Lastly, all are welcome to join at a luncheon reception at the Claremont Hotel Club and Spa at 41 Tunnel Rd, Berkeley, CA.
