William (Bill) Andrew Ruge
March 2, 1952-Feb. 12, 2025
Vero Beach, Florida
William “Bill” Ruge, a former member of the Pleasanton community for 35 years, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 72.
Bill was born on March 2, 1952, in New York, New York. He was a 1974 graduate of Manhattan College, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration. He later continued his education at Santa Clara University, obtaining a MBA.
Throughout his successful career in accounting and finance, Bill traveled the world and made many meaningful friendships along the way. After retiring, he and his loving wife, Patricia “Tish”; to whom he was married for nearly 50 years, moved to Vero Beach, Florida. There, they enjoyed life by the ocean and played golf year-round.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bill never turned down a round of golf, a game of "HORSE," or a chance to toss a ball in the backyard. He had a passion for coaching and volunteered for many years, mentoring young athletes in CYO basketball (both boys and girls), Pleasanton Little League baseball, and the First Tee Tri-Valley golf program.
Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia "Tish"; his son, William "Billy" (Erica); his daughter, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Garrigan (Bobby); and his late son, Christian. He was a loving grandpa to Caroline Garrigan, Nora Garrigan, and Ellis Ruge, cherishing time at the beach and on the golf course with "my girls." He also leaves behind his siblings Betty, Kathy, Dan, Patti, Trudy, and Tom, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
