Virginia 'Ginger' Creely
Sept. 11, 1950-Dec. 27, 2023
Pleasanton, California

Virginia Elizabeth Creely (Ginger) A resident of Pleasanton since 1979. Sept. 11, 1950 – December 27, 2023 For her entire life, Virginia was always known as Ginger. She passed away on December 27, 2023 after battling cancer, melanoma, and finally falling to a stroke. Ginger was a warm, good–hearted woman with a great sense of humor and love of life. She made friends easily; always ready to help if in need. Ginger was born in San Francisco at the SF General Hospital. Initially, she lived in Berkeley but eventually moved to Hayward in 1956. She attended Mount Eden High School in Hayward until graduation in June, 1968. Afterward, she met and married Patrick Creely in late 1969. She then briefly settled in Castro Valley before moving to Dublin, where she gave birth to two children, Kevin and Amanda. Ginger worked as secretary at Physics International in San Leandro for a number of years before moving up to accounting and eventually into the contracts department preparing proposals. Eventually, she moved to Pulse Sciences, where she performed the same tasks. Ginger was always a joy to work with, always light hearted and outgoing. She worked hard at her jobs in multi-tasking roles that included accounting, contract proposals, cost analysist, and as administrative assistant. Later in life, Ginger entered Bryman College and earned a certificate as Surgical Technician. She worked at several clinics in Pleasanton before obtaining a position at the San Ramon Regional Medical Center. She retired in 2004. Ginger’s hobbies included Genealogy and playing the ukulele. She liked the detective work of tracking down distant relatives and getting in touch with those she had never met. Ginger and husband Pat became members of the Pleasanton Ukulele band in 2014. They were in several local performances at assisted living centers, the Pleasanton Public Library and at the Firehouse Theater where they entertained a sellout crowd. Ginger is survived by her loving husband, Patrick; devoted children, Kevin of Pleasanton, daughter Amanda Burruss of Coeur d’Alene Idaho, stepson Michael of Modesto, Patricia Mendez of Fremont, sister Lourie of North Bend, Oregon and sister Nancy of Dublin. She will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held February 10 at 11 AM at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First Street, Pleasanton, CA 94566.
