Patrick Carroll

Patrick James Carroll Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, Marine and community servant, passed away on May 25, 2026 at the age of 79.

Patrick was a devout Catholic and member of St. Raymond Catholic Church in Dublin. He often served in the Church as an usher.

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, his family moved to California when he was a teen. He resided in Contra Costa County and Alameda County. He spent most of his adult life and later years in Pleasanton. Patrick proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam War and was a gunner and an MP. After release from the military, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service before his career as a Peace Officer. Patrick dedicated 35 years to law enforcement at the University of California Berkeley (UC Berkeley PD), where he retired as an Assistant Chief of Police. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary's College, as well as a graduate of the FBI Academy. Patrick was a longtime volunteer of the City of Pleasanton, and was an active videographer in youth sports.

He is survived by his beloved wife Dorene Paradiso Carroll, his children: Patrick Carroll Jr., Nancy Fenske, Jon Carroll, Corine Fanene, Chase Wild and Amber Goelz; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Patrick was preceded in death by parents Francis Carroll and Evelvn Jenkins Carroll, his brother Mike Carroll, sister Arlene Rumble and son Bryan Carroll.
