Leni Jane Seymon
July 26, 1954-Aug. 6, 2024
Pleasanton, California
Leni was born at a North Carolina military base at 3 lbs. 8 oz. but overcame her rough start to become a very successful, independent, woman. She graduated from San Leandro High School in 1972. After 1 year at Humboldt State she decided to enroll in a vocational drafting program in Pocatello, Idaho. She became the 4th employee at Power Engineers as a drafter where she practiced her impeccable writing and drawing skills. When the company moved to Hailey, ID, they supported Leni to attend the University of Idaho to obtain her electrical engineering degree. She continued with Power until moving back to California to be near family. Leni pursued her engineering career in CA and obtained her Professional Engineering license. She held many jobs in that capacity, including Hershey’s Chocolate where she was transferred to Pennsylvania for a short time. Upon returning she started her own successful business in automation engineering.
In 2001 she decided to make a drastic career change, her childhood dream job…….teaching. Leni loved teaching math and worked endlessly to create the most positive, rigorous, supportive environment for her students at Pleasanton Middle School. Over the 19 years of teaching, students always came back to thank her for the tremendous math experience they had and share their success stories. She was a master at remembering every single student’s name. Throughout these years she maintained her engineering skills by working with her close friend with Int-Elect Engineering and managed the family real estate business (Eirwin F. Selby Inc.). Needless to say, she enjoyed working!
When not working, Leni’s passion was cuisine …..whether creating exotic meals at home, exploring cooking shows on TV, or traveling to wine and dining destinations, she loved experimenting with food and drink. Her fame was lemon drop cocktails and her colleagues savored her baked goodies on collaboration days. Generosity was in her soul.
Leni handled her year long battle with esophageal cancer with amazing strength and calmness. She died peacefully at home with her sister and niece by her side.
She is survived by Gail Myers (sister), David Seymon (brother and wife MaryJo), Gwen Anaya (niece, husband-Jason, children-Cruz and Ruby), Conrad Myers (nephew, wife Katelyn, children-Grayson and Harper), George Myers (nephew and wife Julie, children-Ivy, Austin, and Olivia).
